Our obesity management centre has a multidisciplinary team to offer you personalised care.

Human obesity was recognised as a disease in 1997 by the WHO. This organisation defines "overweight and obesity as an abnormal or excessive accumulation of body fat that can damage health". Preventing obesity is a public health issue in developed countries. It can have a major impact on individual health.

The 2012 results of the ObEpi survey reveal that almost 15% of the French adult population is obese, i.e. 7 million people, compared with just 3.5 million in 1997.

Obesity surgery, also known as "bariatric" surgery, is aimed at adults who:

who suffer from massive obesity (BMI ≥40 kg/m²) or severe obesity (BMI ≥35 kg/m²) when it is associated with at least one complication that can be improved with surgery (diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnoea syndrome, joint disorders...) ;Calculating your Body Mass Index is very important to know if you can benefit from bariatric surgery. The Body Mass Index (BMI) is calculated by dividing weight (in kilograms) by height (in metres) squared.

who have already tried unsuccessfully to lose weight thanks to specialised medical treatment lasting several months (with dietary monitoring, physical activity and psychological support);
and who have no contraindications to surgery (e.g. alcohol dependence) or general anaesthetic.
