A specialist hand and upper limb surgery service:

Hand surgery is a speciality in its own right, involving multidisciplinary skills: orthopaedic surgery, vascular microsurgery, nerve surgery, reconstructive surgery and arthroscopic surgery. These wide-ranging skills provide patients with unique and optimal care, whatever the severity of the trauma...

SOS HANDS

Anyone with a hand injury caused by firm trauma or a wound, however serious, will be seen 24/7 at the CMC Floréal. The patient will be cared for by a specialised medical and surgical team.

Benign" trauma:

This is often a domestic trauma that does not cause much concern. However, when it comes to hand surgery emergencies, there is no such thing as a minor trauma. The hand and fingers are complex areas, and every anatomical element that is damaged needs to be surgically repaired, whether it's bone, tendons, arteries or nerves.

ALL HAND WOUNDS REQUIRE SURGICAL EXPLORATION IN THE OPERATING THEATRE BY A SPECIALIST WITH THE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING REQUIRED FOR OPTIMAL MANAGEMENT.

Major" trauma:

This involves complex damage to the hand, such as amputation of fingers or crushing of part or all of the limb in a serious accident in a workshop, on a building site or in a road accident.... These major hand injuries are treated medically at the scene of the accident, transported by the fire brigade or ambulance, followed by high-level surgical and microsurgical repair.

The CMC Floréal has a medical team on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This team includes specialist emergency physicians, hand surgeons and anaesthetists. Any trauma to the hand or upper limb can be treated at any time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Good reflexes when faced with a hand injury:

  • 1) Immediately call the Mains Paris Nord emergency service on 01 48 97 72 08.
  • 2 In the event of complete severance :
    • Gather up the severed limbs.
    • Place them in a watertight plastic bag wrapped in fabric.
    • Place this same plastic bag in another plastic bag containing ice cubes.
  • 3 Some advice:
    • No tourniquet
      • Keep your hand elevated
      • Apply a pressure dressing
