Mammography is an x-ray of the breasts. It is the standard examination for diagnosing a breast lump and screening for cancer. It uses X-rays, but has become a low-radiation examination (low doses used) as long as the area to be examined is well defined.
The examination is carried out in an upright position (standing), with the breast slightly compressed. Two images are taken from the front and obliquely on each side.
In the event of a palpable abnormality. More generally, mammography is carried out systematically from the age of 40, and every two years if there is no previous abnormality or family history. To contact the imaging department, click here.
