During your stay, you can designate in writing* a trusted member of your family to accompany you throughout your care and any decisions you need to make.
This person, whom the clinic will consider to be your "trusted support person", may - if you so request - attend medical appointments and help you to formulate your wishes.
If your state of health does not allow you, during the period of your hospitalisation, to let the people who care for you know your opinion or the decisions you wish to make regarding your care, your trusted support person will be consulted by the care team and will be able to give them appropriate instructions.
In addition, the doctor will take into account any advance directives you may have drawn up in the event that your treatment is to be limited or stopped.
* You will be given a form for this purpose when you arrive on the ward.
